NIT Andhra Pradesh is inviting researchers and faculty members to research in Bio Valorisation for the production of value-added products.

In order to promote the research in Bio Valorisation, NIT Andhra Pradesh is hosting a five-day online faculty development programme on “Bio Valorisation: Trend and Prospects of Value-Added Products” from January 3-7, 2022.

Speaking at the inaugural event, C.S.P. Rao, Director, NIT Andhra Pradesh, said that most of the waste is produced from domestic, agricultural and industrial practices. The management and treatment of a large volume of waste is a very complicated task.

The biological treatment of waste with micro-organisms is promising for the treatment of the wide spectrum of waste in an economical method. The treatment process can be coupled to generate energy and by utilizing the biovalorisation value-added products can be produced from waste products”, Rao added.

NIT-AP Faculty Development Program: Key Takeaways

NIT Andhra Pradesh's faculty development programme is being organised with an objective to bring advancements in the field of Bioenergy via waste utilization and minimization of the dependency on fossil-based fuels to improve energy security.

Rao said that the FDP is focused on crossing over the gap of ever-increasing demand for technologies that treat the wastes effectively and economically and as resource recovery in the form of energy or platform chemicals.

It will encourage the researchers and the faculty to conduct their research with the goal of utilizing wastes as feedstock for energy production and valuable commercial products, Rao said.

NIT Andhra Pradesh's five-day faculty development programme also aims to impart advanced knowledge on bio-valorisation of wastes to renewable chemicals and biofuels for faculty members, scientists, and research scholars by covering the following core areas,

  • Glyco genomics
  • Bioconversion of organic waste
  • Biomass Valorisation
  • Renewable chemical production
  • Bio-economy
  • Industrial waste treatment
