Model G20 at IIT Hyderabad Concludes Recognizing 7 Winners From PAN India; Check Details Here

New Delhi: The six-month-long Model G20 at IIT Hyderabad concluded on October 13, 2023. Seven winners from throughout the country were handed prizes. Each of the seven winners received a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

As per IIT Hyderabad, the seven winners were chosen from over 4,000 entries from around the country. The event was conducted over a six months journey of the Model G20 initiative in three stages.

The recipients of the awards were as follows:

  • Divyansh Joshi, a student at Vellore Institute of Technology in Bhopal, was recognized for his work in the field of 'Women Empowerment.'
  • Sourav Jyoti Baishya, hailing from Agricultural University in Assam, received an award for his contributions to 'Lifestyle for Environment.'
  • Sumirini Puppala, a student at Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University in Odisha, was honored for her efforts in 'Progress on Sustainable Development Goals.'
  • Sushree Sangeeta Behera, attending Samanta Chandrasekhar College in Puri, was acknowledged for her work addressing 'Climate Change and its Impact.'
  • Hitaishi Chakravarty, a student of KD Dental College and Hospital in Mathura, received recognition for her work in the area of 'Sustainable Living.'
  • Anaya Degloorkar, a student at ICFAI Business School in Hyderabad, was awarded for her contributions to 'Revitalizing Global Governance.'
  • Malvika Jayakumar, a student from IIT-Bombay, was honored for her work in the field of 'Circular Economy and Lifestyle for Environment.'

Union higher education secretary K Sanjay Murthy remarked at the ceremony, "We are taking the lead in enhancing digital public infrastructure, as evidenced by projects like SWAYAM and DISHA at the school level. The emphasis on research and the movement of students and researchers was one of the primary highlights of India's G20 leadership." 

"We want our young people to be job creators, not job seekers, as IITH has supported 150+ startups that have generated over Rs 1200 crore in revenue and 1000+ jobs, and we recently selected 75 innovators from across the country to foster an innovation culture in our young minds.Like our institution, the G20 platform serves as a beacon for collaboration and global awareness," he continued.

The event was attended by Amitabh Kant, India's G20 Sherpa, K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Higher Education in UMoE, and BS Murty, Director, IITH, among others.
