Ministry of Tribal Affairs Launches Groundbreaking Partnership with ISRO, IISc Bengaluru, AIIMS Delhi, IIM Calcutta, and IIT Delhi

New Delhi: Arjun Munda, the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs and Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare has announced the launch of groundbreaking partnerships between leading institutes in India for tribal development. 

Esteemed institutions like the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), IISc Bengaluru, AIIMS Delhi, IIM Calcutta, and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have collaborated with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) under this initiative.

Moreover, letters of Intent were exchanged between the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and these prestigious institutions to formalise partnerships across various key areas.

Key Highlights of Groundbreaking Tribal Development Partnership

The partnerships will mainly focus on key areas such as Indigenous Practices, Telemedicine & Tribal Health, Training & Capacity Building, Entrepreneurship, Technology Transfer, Patents, IPR, and Digitization via Satellites. Furthermore, it will explore the utilisation of Industry 4.0 Technologies (AI/ML, AR/VR) to address tribal issues.

Speaking during the event, Arjun Munda highlighted the importance of these collaborations, pointing out the ISRO's role in bridging remote areas, AIIMS Delhi's Bhagwan Birsa Munda Chair in medicine dedicated to tribal health for initiatives like the Sickle Cell Disease Elimination Mission. 

He further highlighted the academic and research capabilities of institutions like IISc Bengaluru and IIT Delhi. Expressing his confidence in the program's goals, Munda assured that it would generate favourable results for the advancement of tribal communities.

Arjun Munda said, "The past decade has witnessed significant and impactful decisions by our government in empowering tribal communities across India. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the aim has been to establish sustainable livelihoods for India's tribal population”.
