IIT Roorkee Signs MoU with NPTI for Research and Training; Check Details Here

New Delhi: IIT Roorkee has signed an MoU with National Power Training Institute to establish a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for research and consulting in Supply Chain Management of Green Hydrogen at IIT Roorkee's Greater Noida Extension Centre (GNEC),

In accordance with the MoU, NPTI and IIT Roorkee will build a medium-sized pellet manufacturing plant on the campus of IIT Roorkee in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, for research and training programs that would show how to make pellets and use them in power plants.

Furthermore, NPTI and IIT Roorkee faculty, scientists, staff, and researchers will collaborate on research projects to support the MoU’s goal to advance academic and research cooperation and development.

The initiative to join hands with National Power Training Institute was taken in a meeting on the occasion of IIT Roorkee's 175th-anniversary celebration. Through this collaboration, both institutes will jointly organise various workshops, conferences, symposiums and other events.

Additionally, NPTI and IIT Roorkee can use each other's facilities, including infrastructure capital for training and the development of other training utilities in India and abroad as per the requirements of the various participants.

In accordance with India's flagship program, "Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0 (PMKVY 3.0)," both institutes will work together and establish a core for promoting excellent quality manpower in fields related to the power sectors.

This will be done through training programs designed to encourage and promote skill development throughout the nation. These programs will address industry needs, meet market demands and impart skills in services and in new-age job roles.

IIT Roorkee Director Prof. K.K. Pant shared that NPTI and IIT Roorkee share the goal of improving society through research and development. The fact that both organisations must collaborate closely on research and academic projects is encouraging.

By combining our strengths and resources, we hope to improve society and address pressing global issues, particularly in the field of green hydrogen, he added. The institutes will bring their resources and expertise to create a centre of excellence to educate professionals through this collaboration.

Dr Tripta Thakur, the Director General of the NPTI, spoke at the event and said, "The partnership with IIT Roorkee will reinforce our commitment towards research and consulting in Green Hydrogen, which is the future of the energy sector”.
