IIT Roorkee is Hosting 2nd International Meet on Energy Storage Devices And Industry-Academia Conclave. Check Details Here

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Roorkee) is conducting the second International Meeting on Energy Storage Devices 2023 (IMESD) and Industry-Academia Conclave.

The Physics Department and Centre for Sustainable Energy at IIT Roorkee are meeting with the help of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from December 7 to 10, 2023.

More than 600 people from India and other countries will discuss energy storage devices and their use in renewable energy, electric cars, and new tech. This IMESD 2023 conference aims to bring intelligent people worldwide together to chat and work together. They want to solve problems and make extraordinary things happen in the energy storage field.

During the four-day meeting, experts will discuss topics like better batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen use, and making systems that use these devices. Big names from the USA, UK, Singapore, Sweden, France, and UAE will join in. They'll share what they've been working on. It's a chance for everyone to learn and share ideas to improve energy storage in India.

At this event, many knowledgeable persons from different places are coming together at IIT Roorkee to talk about special batteries and related topics. They'll discuss how these things can be used for clean energy, electric cars, and cool gadgets. DRDO, a group working on defense stuff, will show off batteries and fuel cells used for essential jobs. Not just them, but also some other great groups like ARCI, IITR, IITB, IIT Ropar, DST (C3E division), Hyderabad Battery Limited, Oorja Energy, Indi Energy, and more will show what they've made.

The conference started with essential people like VK Saraswat from NITI Aayog, KK Pant from IIT Roorkee, and BVR Chowdari from MRS-Singapore. They came together and inaugurated the conference. It's a chance for more than 600 students and researchers to talk about the technologies in energy and special batteries and how they can improve our world.

The institute further stated that “The IMESD 2023 conference aims to bring global experts in the field of energy storage devices on a common platform to foster interdisciplinary discussions and collaborations. “With a focus on the current status, challenges, and prospects of energy storage devices in India, the four-day conference includes parallel symposia covering topics such as lithium-ion batteries, beyond Li-ion batteries, supercapacitors, hydrogen economy, and system design and integration.”

The exhibition will display batteries and fuel cells from 10 different DRDO labs used for important jobs. Top organizations like ARCI, IITR, IITB, IIT Ropar, DST (C3E division), Hyderabad Battery Limited, Oorja Energy, Indi Energy, and others will show what they've created too.
