New Delhi: The International Relations Office at IIT Roorkee recently conducted a workshop hosted at the institute's Greater Noida Center (GNEC). The Indo-German Partnership Workshop was designed to promote scientific collaboration, application-oriented concepts, and innovation while strengthening the ties between Indian and German institutions. 

The Indo-German Partnership Workshop, consisting of two separate sessions, revolved around the theme "Bridging Horizons: Indo-German Scientific Collaboration at IIT Roorkee.

Professor K K Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, expressed that the Indo-German Partnership Workshop conducted at IIT Roorkee has played a crucial role in strengthening scientific collaboration between India and Germany. 

It has promoted mutual growth and has laid the foundation for future cooperation and innovation. It's noteworthy that, as of 2021, India stands as the second-largest source of overseas students in Germany, following China, according to the reports. 

The Virtual Labs IIT Roorkee and the Department of Technical Education Uttarakhand, under the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) scheme of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, organised a Training Program on Virtual Labs for Faculty members from Polytechnic Institutes of Uttarakhand on October 21, 2023.

Additionally, IIT Roorkee hosted the Sustainability, Technology, and Investments Colloquium, an event organised by the academic affairs office. The event was honored by the presence of the Charge of Affairs of the Costa Rican Embassy in New Delhi. 

Notable resource persons at the event included Professor Anil Gupta, a senior academician and Head of Division – ECDRM at the National Institute of Disaster Management, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr Aprit Chaturvedi, CEO of Global Policy Insight, a policy think tank organisation, and Mr. Gaurav Gupta, MD of Desire Energy Solutions.
