IIT Roorkee Hosts 3 Day National Youth Conference on Indian Knowledge System; Check Details Here

News Title: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has organised a three-day National Youth Conference on Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) on August 25, 2023. The event was held as a part of ‘G20 University Connect: Celebrating the Indic wisdom’ at MAC auditorium.

As per IIT Roorkee, the National Youth Conference was organised in collaboration with IKS Division of the Ministry of Education, Central Sanskrit University, University of Patanjali; CCRYN, Ministry of Ayush, and IIT Roorkee Alumni Association.

The inauguration session for the conference was held on August 25, 2023, in the presence of U P Singh, Deputy Director of IIT Roorkee, Anil Gourishetty, Organising Secretary of the Conference. The event was attended by over 400 delegates from around the country. 

In addition to this, Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, Chairperson of NCVET, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India attended the conference as a Chief Guest. The conference covered a discussion on the importance of genuine study material related to IKS.

Speaking on this occasion, the Chairperson of NCVET shared that the government has started certification courses for IKS-related skills. Michel Danino from IIT Gandhinagar shared, “ We need to focus on student and teacher-centric education and simply textbook-centric”.

At the inaugural session, Books Authored by IIT Roorkee Alumni were also released, including Satya Narain and Navin Chandra titled 'Archaeometallurgy of India from Rigveda to Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa', another book titled 'Subhashitsanskritam', and book titled 'MahavirkirtiSaurabham' authored by Mahakavi Dr Manoharlal Arya.
