IIT Roorkee Concluded Three Day National Workshop on Earth Sciences on December 29

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee has successfully organised a three-day National Workshop on Earth Sciences from December 27 to December 29, 2023. The workshop served as a platform where professionals and researchers from many Earth Sciences fields meet and discuss their ideas. 

Organising Secretary Prof. Sandeep Singh kicked off the event by presenting Chief Guest Sri Sanjeev Tokhi, a prominent alumni from the department's class of '87. In his speech, Sri Sanjeev Tokhi, Director (Exploration) at ONGC Videsh Ltd., credited his successes in his academic journey at IIT Roorkee.

On this occasion, Sri Sanjeev Tokhi, Director (Exploration) at ONGC Videsh Ltd, awarded the ONGC Videsh trophy, acknowledging students with the highest CGPA in the departments of M.Sc. (Applied Geology), Integrated M.Tech. (Geological Technology), and Integrated M.Tech. (Geophysical Technology) - intake through JEE, and Integrated M.Teh. (Geophysical Technology) intake through JEE. 

The workshop held at IIT Roorkee featured plenary conversations, keynote addresses, and a multitude of presentations. It worked as a platform where professionals gained insight into cutting-edge research trends as well as shared their views for exploration in the field of Earth Sciences.

Topics covered during the technical sessions at IIT Roorkee National Workshop on Earth Sciences 2023 include Precambrian Geodynamics, Emerging Techniques in Earth Sciences, exploring the Himalayan geodynamics, and natural hazard mitigation.
