New Delhi: As per the latest updates, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing to step up a supercomputer based on Rudra server by September 2023.

With this initiative, IIT Patna has taken part in the National Supercomputing Mission (NSM). The mission is funded by the Minister of Electronics and IT (MEITY), Department of Science and Technology (DST) of the Government of India.

The mission aims to provide technology institutions with high-performance computing resources that can be applied to a variety of tasks. Together with CDAC, IIT Patna will launch the Supercomputer of 833 TF (Tera Flops) HPC Systems in the month of September 2023.

These supercomputers will be used in various high-performing tasks such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, computational dynamics, weather modelling, disaster recovery, drug discovery, molecular dynamics and machine learning, etc.

The infrastructure of the Supercomputer of 833 TF will be built on the Rudra server, which was developed, produced, and assembled in India as part of the ambitious "Aatma Nirbhar Bharat" mission of the Government of India.

After its launch, this facility will greatly benefit the Research and Development (R&D) activities of IIT Patna and other organisations in the eastern part of the country. In addition to this, MSME startups, students as well as researchers of other institutes will benefit from this initiative.
