IIT Patna Awards 521 Degrees in its Ninth Convocation

New Delhi: On December 7, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna hosted its ninth convocation on campus. At the convocation, degrees were conferred on 521 students in total, including BTech, MSc, MTech, and PhD students.

The event’s head guest was Jalaj A. Dani, chairman of Addverb Technologies Ltd. Additionally present were Anand Deshpande, chairman of the Board of Governors at IIT Patna, G Satheesh Reddy, scientific advisor to the defence minister, other board members and senators from IIT Patna.

Today saw the graduation of a total of 242 BTech, 64 MSc, 113 MTech, and 102 PhD students. Out of 521 students, 422 men and 99 women received degrees in a variety of programmes.

IIT Patna is ranked 51st and 59th overall and 21st and 33rd among the nation's engineering institutions in the India Rankings for 2021 and 2022 (NIRF) published by the Ministry of Education.

The director of IIT Patna, TN Singh, spoke into great depth on the numerous academic, research, student, infrastructure development, start-up, Technology Incubation Hub (TIH), outreach, industry-academia, and alumni related activities that are going on there.

A variety of engineering, scientific, and social science specialties, including civil and environmental engineering, computer science engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mathematics, physics, chemistry, chemical and biochemical engineering, humanities and social science, metallurgical and materials engineering, mathematics and computing, and Mechatronics, were among the specialties in which degrees were conferred.

Outstanding students were also given medals and prizes in addition to degrees in the following categories.

  • President of India Gold Medal - Puspesh Kumar, Computer Science and Engineering
  • Director's Gold Medal - Kishan Kumar Singh, Electrical Engineering
  • Chairman's Gold Medal – Aditya Kumar (CBE)
  • Aryabhatta Gold Medal – Manmohan Sahu ( Mathematics)
  • Several students also received “Institute Silver Medals”
