IIT-Patna and NIT-Patna Faculty Members Among Top 2% Scientists Worldwide in 2023

19 faculty members from IIT-Patna and NIT-Patna have been named among the world's top 2% scientists for 2023, as per Stanford University's list, which evaluates researchers based on their research publications and is published by Elsevier's.

IIT-Patna and NIT-Patna Faculty Members Among Top 2% Scientists Worldwide in 2023

New Delhi: In a noteworthy achievement, a total of 14 faculty members from the Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-P) and five from the NIT-Patna have earned recognition as some of the world's top 2% scientists according to a list compiled by Stanford University in the United States for the year 2023.

Stanford University annually compiles data to identify the top 2% of researchers globally, assessing them based on their research publications. This prestigious list is published by the renowned publishing company, Elsevier's.

The world-renowned ranking, regarded as one of the most prestigious globally, relies on bibliometric data from the Scopus database. It encompasses over 180,000 researchers worldwide, drawn from a pool of more than 8 million active scientists. The evaluation includes 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields.

T N Singh, the Director of IIT-Patna, along with 13 faculty members hailing from diverse disciplines within engineering, science, and humanities, have earned their positions in this esteemed Stanford University database. 

Among the IIT-Patna Faculty Members recognized as among the world's Top 2% Scientists are Naveen Kumar Nishchal (Physics), Manabendra Pathak (Mechanical Engineering), Ranjan Kumar Behera, And Maheshkumar H Kolekar (Electrical Engineering), Sriparna Saha And Asif Iqbal (Computer Science And Engineering), Amarnath Hegde (Civil And Environmental Engineering), Anirban Bhattacharya (Mechanical Engineering), Richa Chaudhary (Humanities And Social Sciences), Pratibhamoy Das (Mathematics), Surajit Kumar Paul (Mechanical Engineering), Udit Satija, And Jagannath Malik (Electrical Engineering).

In a historic achievement, five faculty members from NIT-Patna have earned recognition among the top two percent of scientists. 

The distinguished faculty members include Pijush Samui (Civil Engineering), Ashish Kumar Bhandari (Electronics And Communication Engineering), Amit Kumar Singh (Computer Science Engineering), Suyel Namasudra (Computer Science Engineering), And Gaurav Varshney (Electronics And Computer Engineering).

This marks the first time that NIT-Patna faculty members have achieved this esteemed recognition.
