IIT Madras Placement Report 2024: About 80% BTech and Dual Degree Program Students Placed

IIT Madras has revealed that 80% of students are placed in BTech/Dual degree programs with a median salary of INR 19.6 LPA. 1091 students were placed in the graduating batch of 2023-24.

New Delhi: IIT Madras has announced that it has placed about 80% of students in BTech and dual degree courses and 75% of students in MTech courses until April 30, 2024. A total of 1091 students were placed, and 256 companies participated in the placement drive for the academic session 2023-24.

Satyanarayana Gummadi, Dean (students), IIT Madras, stated, "The Career Pathway Centre at IIT Madras helps students explore all career pathways and identifies varied employment opportunities. I am happy to see that despite a tough year, our students are in demand."

The institute has an amazing 90% placement rate for BTech and dual degree graduates within two years. The institute is aspiring to reach a similar milestone before the 2024 conference.

IIT Madras Placement Statistics 2023-24

Students were placed with a median salary of INR 19.6 LPA and an average salary of INR 22 LPA. After completing the first and second phases of IIT Madras placement, 235 out of 300 students accepted pre-placement offers.

There were 44 International offers from Japan and Europe. 85 startups made 183 offers in the placement session. About 43% of students were placed in the core sector, about 20% in the software sector, and less than 10% in analytics, finance, consulting, and data science.

IIT Madras Planning to Set up PhD Placement Cell

IIT Madras plans to set up a Placement Cell for Research Scholars from the academic year 2024-25. Currently, the institute faces certain problems as the doctoral degrees do not follow the same timeline as course-based programs. Many PhD students complete their thesis defense close to the conference, leading to placements occurring a few months later. The institution aims to specialize doctoral graduates in core domains.
