IIT Madras Organises All India Research Scholars Summit 2024 for Latest Advancement in Research

New Delhi: The All India Research Scholars’ Summit (AIRSS) 2024, organised by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and facilitated by the Research Affairs Council, was scheduled for March 4 to 7, 2024. This event serves as a gathering point for researchers from various disciplines across India.

The summit's primary aim is to make the latest advancements in diverse research domains, showcasing findings through oral presentations, poster sessions, and displays of products and prototypes.

Skilled leaders from IITs, IISC, NITs, IIITs, and organisations such as DRDO, CAIR, IGCAR, and VSSC will participate in keynote panel discussions during the summit. Beyond the academic focus, the event will also feature cultural festivities, including music concerts, open mic sessions, recreational activities, and DJ events.

One of the highlights was a Panel Discussion on ‘Research and Development: Catalysts for India's Global Academic Standing,’ which included leaders like Dr V Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, and Dr Govindan Rangarajan, Director, IISC Bangalore. The inaugural session on March 4, 2024, saw Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, announcing the upcoming establishment of the Bharat Semiconductor Research Centre. 

This initiative aims to create a globally recognised institution through collaboration between academia, government, private sector, and startups. Addressing the research scholars, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, emphasised the importance of advancing state-of-the-art research in India to provide technological solutions for diverse challenges citizens face. 

He expressed confidence that this inaugural summit would foster robust research collaborations within the vibrant research community. Following the inaugural session, a Plenary Panel focused on the significance of defence and space research for India's self-reliance. Additionally, 'Spotlight Talks' provided a platform for experts to share insights, experiences, and viewpoints from their respective fields.
