IIT Kharagpur Organises Short Course on Quantum Information and Computation; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is currently organizing a short-term course on Quantum Information and Computation from July 24 to July 28, 2023. The course aims to offer participants the knowledge of essential building blocks of quantum formalism.

As per IIT Kharagpur, the short-term course is designed to introduce candidates to the fundamentals of Quantum Information and Computation such as quantum gates, quantum algorithms, classical information transmission with and without security, and teleportation.

Through the IIT Kharagpur Short Course, candidates will gain access to invaluable knowledge, career opportunities and a deeper comprehension of the domain. After completing this program, participants will be able to actively contribute to cutting-edge research and innovations.

The curriculum covers highly demanding skills across various industries. The course is open for those who have a BTech, BS, MSc, MTech or PhD Scholar in Physics degree as well as for Master's degree holder teachers at Engineering Colleges / Degree colleges. Quantum information and computation cover the principles of quantum mechanics, classical information theory and knowledge of computer science.

The study aims to analyse the basic building blocks of information and use them to create computational paradigms. Applications of this field of study include Shor's algorithm for prime factorization, super dense coding, secure quantum key distribution, and quantum teleportation. It also includes quantum sensing, Grover's search algorithm, quantum error correction, quantum machine learning and quantum simulation.
