The IIT Kharagpur placement drive 2024 has successfully commenced with outstanding results as students were presented with over 700 placement opportunities, including pre-placement offers (PPOs), on the very first day.

New Delhi:Commencing its 2024 placement drive, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has announced that on the first day alone, students were presented with over 700 placement opportunities, including pre-placement offers (PPOs).

Among the diverse offers, over 19 were recorded for international placements during the IIT Kharagpur placements. Notably, several instances involved students securing job offers with a cost-to-company (CTC) exceeding INR 1 crore.

According to the IIT Kharagpur placements reports, more than 61 companies extend job offers to the students. These offer predominantly spanned fields such as software, analytics, finance, banking, consulting, and core engineering.

Prominent companies providing pre-placement positions include Apple, Arthur D Little, Da Vinci, Capital One, DE Shaw, EXL Services, Glean, Google, Graviton, Microsoft, McKinsey, Quantbox, Databricks, Square Point, TSM, Palo Alto, and numerous others.

The reports suggest that the significance of a well-planned devised strategy has played a pivotal role in successfully engaging with a multitude of new companies, thereby overcoming the hurdles posed by challenging market conditions and upholding the institute's esteemed reputation throughout the placement process.

Moreover, a hybrid approach for interviews has been embraced by companies, with a considerable number opting for both virtual and in-person interactions.

As part of its innovative initiatives, the Career Development Centre introduces the inaugural 'Academia Industry Conclave (AIC) 2023.' The primary goal of this event is to promote collaboration and bridge the gap between academia and industry effectively.

MaITY highlighted that the primary objective is to create a platform for departments, centers, and schools to exhibit their strengths and accomplishments to potential industry partners and recruiters.
