New Delhi: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Jodhpur has developed cutting-edge technology titled Novel MAC-based Authentication Scheme (NoMAS) with the aim to minimise traffic congestion and accidents.
As per IIT Jodhpur, the Novel MAC-based Authentication Scheme (NoMAS) promises to improve vehicle security and intelligence while addressing the multiple issues on Indian roadways. It uses real-time data on road conditions and traffic jams to ensure road safety.
The real-time data exchange can help drivers make informed decisions and avoid risks. The data collected and exchanged through the Internet of Vehicles network can be assessed to identify accident-prone locations, unsafe conduct patterns, or road conditions that need to be improved.

Informing about this development, Debasis Das, Associate Professor from the Computer Science and Engineering Department of IIT Jodhpur said, "With this technology, we have strived to address critical challenges in data protection, communication overhead and security vulnerabilities”.
In addition to road safety, the newly developed NoMAS can help protect vehicles from theft and unauthorised use. The team further developed a federated learning-based driver recommendation system for transportation which evaluates a driver's stress level from the analysis of driving patterns.
