IIT Jodhpur Confers Degrees to 800 students at its 9th Convocation

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology(IIT) Jodhpur held its 9th Convocation on November 21, 2023. During the event, 800 students recieved Degrees and 20 Diploma/Certificate awards upon graduating in 2023. The esteemed presence of faculty, staff, students, parents, and distinguished personalities graced the event.

During the convocation proceedings, Prof. Santanu Chaudhury, the Director of IIT Jodhpur, expressed his pride in congratulating 820 candidates set to receive degrees or diploma certificates across various graduate and postgraduate programs. He also announced the conferment of Honoris Causa upon Prof. Rohini Godbole, Prof. Paras N. Prasad, and Mr. Vinod Gupta, acknowledging their remarkable contributions to science, technology, and philanthropy.

In the convocation, 316 students received B.Tech. degrees in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Bioengineering (BB). Additionally, 17 B.Tech. students accomplished the requirements for Minor/Specialization certificates in Entrepreneurship, Management, Visual Computing, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics.

Furthermore, 92 students excelled in earning M.Sc. degrees in disciplines like Chemistry (CY), Design and Humanities (DH), Mathematics (MA), and Physics (PH). In tandem, 283 students showcased prowess in acquiring M.Tech. degrees spanning subjects such as Bioengineering (BB), Chemical Engineering (CH), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Science (CS), and various other specialized domains.

The academic awards extended to include 77 students in MBA and MBA-Technology programs, 6 in Master’s in Medical Technology programs, 22 pursuing Ph.D. degrees, and an additional 20 students acknowledged for their excellence in PG Diploma/Certificate courses.
 

The chief guest, Dr. K. Radhakrishnan, former chairman of the Space Commission and ISRO and former secretary of the Dept. of Space, GoI, emphasized the significance of perpetual learning. He encouraged the graduates to introspect daily on their learning, convert knowledge into action, embrace failure as a stepping stone to success, and uphold the virtues of being good citizens contributing positively to society.

The convocation served as a milestone celebration and an inspirational platform fostering academic achievement and commitment to lifelong learning.
