IIT Hyderabad’s 16th Foundation Day Comes to An End on March 21

New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad celebrated its 16th Foundation Day on March 21, 2024. The event saw over 182 students and faculty members receive awards for excellence in academics and research in their respective fields. The event also saw the launch of the website and logo of IITH’s latest research project SATHI CISCoM.

IIT Hyderabad’s Foundation Day event was attended by dignitaries such as the Secretary of the Indian Government’s Department of Science and Technology Prof Abhay Karandikar, Chairman of BoG at IITH Dr BVR Mohan Reddy, and IITH Director Prof B S Murty. Prof. Murthy delivered the welcome address.

During the welcome address, Prof Murty said, “IITH would like to express its gratitude to the Department of Science and Technology for their unwavering encouragement to support Research and Innovation at IIT Hyderabad with over 500+ Cr funding that includes recent flagship projects like TiHAN and SATHI-CISCoM.”

Prof Abhay Karandikar also spoke at the event, talking about the relationship between invention and business. “India is the 3rd country globally in scientific paper publication, and with the recent success in space and medicine, the public morale for innovation has enhanced. From DST, we are enthusiastic about accelerating fundamental research and encouraging startups,” he said. 

He also expressed his excitement for new areas of discovery in science and technology. He stated, “We are seeding research and innovations in quantum computing, communications, quantum sensing and metrology, and quantum materials & devices.”
