Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, India and Monash University, Australia, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for areas of common interest in the academia and research.

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad and Monash University, Australia, recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for areas of common interest in academia and research.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education and Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, India, and Jason Dean Clare MP, Minister for Education, Australia during the first Australia India Education and Skill Council meet at IIT Gandhinagar, according to an official statement shared by IIT Hyderabad.

Professor BS Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, and Professor Susan Elliott AM, Vice-Chancellor of Monash University, signed the MoU. Noteworthy dignitaries, including K Sanjay Murthy, IAS, Secretary Higher Education, Government of India, and HE Philip Green OAM, the Australian High Commissioner to India, graced the signing ceremony. Their presence highlighted the partnership's significance for both nations.

According to Professor BS Murty, Director, IIT Hyderabad, “IIT Hyderabad already has a significant connection with Australia, via Joint Doctoral Program (JDP), with prominent universities like Swinburne University of Technology and Deakin University, Melbourne. I am confident that this collaboration of IIT Hyderabad with Monash University will be a significant step in strengthening India-Australia scientific collaboration for mutual growth and will also help in India’s endeavour towards Atma Nirbharata.’’
