IIT Hyderabad Inks MoU with College of Defence Management to Launch ABCD Cohort 2

New Delhi: iTIC Incubator at IIT Hyderabad (IITH) has signed an MoU with the College of Defence Management (CDM) Hyderabad to support defence-oriented Startups by launching cohort 2 of the Acclimatization Boot Camp for Defence (ABCD) Program.

Rear Admiral Sanjay Datt, VSM - Commandant, CDM, and Prof Suryakumar, Dean ITS, IITH, signed the agreement at IIT Hyderabad. The ABCD Cohort 2, launched by iTIC Incubator in collaboration with iDEX-DIO and in partnership with CDM, is geared towards aiding civilian tech startups in developing defence-focused applications.

To join Cohort 2 of ABCD, startups keen on participating can apply via the official website at itic.iith.ac.in/abcd2. The application window closes on November 30, 2023, and the program is set to kick off in December 2023

Selected startups stand to gain advantages such as feedback from the defense ecosystem, utilisation of iTIC and IITH resources, assistance in crafting proposals for defense procurements and grants, and opportunities to enter the defense market.

On the collaboration, Prof B S Murty said, "Through this collaboration with iTIC Incubator, IIT Hyderabad, we are stepping into a realm where technological innovation converges with national needs. The Acclimatization Boot Camp for Defence (ABCD) not only propels civilian tech Startups into the defence domain but also fosters a symbiotic relationship between Startups and the armed forces, fortifying our collective pursuit of pioneering solutions for defence challenges”.

More About Acclimatization Boot Camp for Defence (ABCD)

ABCD's cohort 2 represents IIT Hyderabad’s dedication to assisting startups in refocusing their technology toward defense applications. The primary objective of this program is to familiarise startups with defense applications, aiding them in uncovering opportunities and securing funding for defense-related projects.

For four months, the program welcomes promising startups to engage with knowledgeable partners, including active and retired armed forces personnel.

These mentors will closely collaborate with startups to explore ways their technology can tackle crucial defense challenges. Through collaborative definition of problem statements, startups will receive guidance from iTIC Incubator at IIT Hyderabad to enhance their prototypes and gain validation from their mentors.

By the end of the boot camp, startups will possess adept skills in formulating persuasive proposals for defense procurements and grants, equipping them to contribute to the defense domain significantly.
