IIT Hyderabad Breaks Records with INR 1,000 Crore Research Funds, Highest Among IITs

New Delhi: Since its establishment, IIT Hyderabad (IITH) has concentrated on advanced research. The total funding it received for research projects has now crossed INR 1,000 Crores, which is 30% to 40% more than what other similar IITs in India have collected.

Around 72.5% of IIT Hyderabad's funding arrived through grant-in-aid, with 13.3% from sponsored projects, 9.7% from consultancy projects, and 3% from internal projects. The official highlights the institute's lead over similar IITs, whose R&D funding ranges from INR 600 to INR 700 Crore.

Over the past 15 years, IIT Hyderabad undertook 3,550 projects, mostly interdisciplinary, totalling INR 1,012 Crore. Kiran Kumar Kuchi's INR 75 crore project in Electrical Engineering Department was a significant achievement, funded by the IIT Bombay’s COMET Foundation.
