IIT Hyderabad and Kathmandu University Launch Joint Doctoral Programme For PhD Scholars, Check Details Here

New Delhi: IIT Hyderabad (IITH) and Kathmandu University (KU) together aim to provide a special Joint Doctoral Program (JDP). The program is for students from both India and Nepal to work together on important topics in science, technology, design, and medical advances.

If a student from Kathmandu University gets into this program, they can spend up to one year studying at IITH with a scholarship. The same goes for IIT Hyderabad students at KU. The goal of this partnership is to create collaboration between the two universities and to use their strengths to do really good research together. Such research and development shall be in the areas which are of common interest to both the universities and some other complementary fields. The main aim is to combine the strengths of both universities to drive exceptional research forward.

Further, IIT Hyderabad hosts 10 BTech students from Kathmandu University in the final year (4th year) from the August 2023 cycle with an aim to provide necessary research exposure among UG students. IITH agrees to train and represent undergraduate students from KU for a short research internship.

Bhola Thapa, vice-chancellor, KU, expressing his views regarding this Joint Doctoral Program stated that,” There are lots of opportunities for both the Institutes KU and IITH to work jointly to promote faculty exchanges, joint research programs, and international internships. Together we can do much more for us. Let’s march together to become Vishwaguru.”

To make their collaboration in academics and research even better, both Universities also decided to exchange their teachers so they can work together on grand problems that both countries face. They both want to keep growing their collaboration, especially in subjects like Medical Technology, Yoga, and Heritage Science.
