New Delhi: The Ministry of Rural Development has joined hands with IIT Delhi to jointly work on geospatial and AI applications. The agreement focuses on the 'BhuPRAHARI' project, which aims to monitor and manage assets under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
The assets created by MGNREGA are monitored using geospatial technologies, both terrestrial and space-based, as well as artificial intelligence (AI). As a part of this collaboration, the project will be carried out by the HydroSense lab, supervised by IIT Delhi Professor Manabendra Saharia. The BhuPRAHARI project is set to commence with immediate effect.
A big day for our lab as we signed an MoU with the Ministry of Rural Development for applying ground and space-based geospatial tech along with AI to monitor and manage assets under MGNREGA. Doing research that improves life in rural areas is a dream of mine and I am excited! https://t.co/zBzVIYpj4H
