IIT Bombay 4th TIPS Workshop

New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, hosted the 4th Technology Innovation in Cyber-Physical Systems (TIPS) workshop on May 13-14, 2024. The event provides a platform for 25 Technology Innovation Hubs (TIHs) to demonstrate progress. Through the workshop, people from different backgrounds, such as government representatives, startups, investors, academia, and industry professionals, exchange ideas.

The 4th TIPS Workshop at IIT Bombay is the best platform to exchange ideas and explore advancements in Cyber-Physical Systems. Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology, emphasizes the importance of cyber-physical systems in the digital world and predicts impact across all sectors of the economy.

Secretary, DST highlights a unique model bringing together industry, faculty, students, and investors. This TIPS workshop aims to catalyze an ecosystem of deep-tech startups and make India a global leader.

Dr. Kris Gopalakrishnan, Chairman of Mission Governing Board, NM-ICPS, focuses on cultural change to create products and technologies in institutions. Further aiming to shift R&D focus from industries to institutions.

IIT Bombay TIPS Workshop Highlights

The TIPS workshop is hosted by Technology Innovation Hub for IoT & IoE (TIH-IoT) at IIT Bombay on May 13 and May 14, 2024. This saw the participation of 48 deep tech startups and commitment towards 44 innovative startups. Several dignitaries like Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Dr. Abhay Karandikar, and Dr. Ekta Kapoor delivered their speech and addressed the students.

Dr. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary of DST, acknowledges milestones with deep tech startups at the forefront, demonstrating progress towards creating lab-to-market opportunities. Padmaja Ruparel, Co-founder of Indian Angel Network, praises the NM-ICPS program for driving research commercialization. Her speech also focuses on sectors imperative for India's growth.

This workshop was attended by 25 hubs, 48 startups, 35 venture capitalists, and angel investors. Well-known investors, such as Mumbai Angels, McKinsey, and Info Edge India Limited representatives, were also present.

NM-ICPS Mission is to enhance entrepreneurship, research, and commercialization. It further aims to establish 25 TIHs across India, focusing on advanced technologies.
