New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Bombay) celebrated the 62nd convocation ceremony by awarding 352 degrees to 325 students, including 209 PhD students. Congratulating students, Sharad Kumar Saraf, Chairman of the Board of Governors encouraged graduates to give back to their alma mater and society as a whole.

On this occasion, 143 degrees were awarded including 44 E-MBA students of IIT Bombay. Students who fulfilled all of the program requirements between August 2023 and January 2024 received their degrees at the 62nd convocation.
Key Speakers at IIT Bombay’s 62nd Convocation Ceremony
The function's Chief Guest was Satish K Tripathi from the University of Buffalo, State University of New York. The ceremony was presided over by IIT Bombay's Chairman of the Board of Governors, Sharad Kumar Saraf, and the degrees were awarded by Director Subhasis Chaudhuri.

Speaking on this occasion, Satish K Tripathi said, “This era is being driven by AI, blockchain, Virtual reality, robotics, Quantum Computing, the internet of things and nanotechnology, among other innovations. It is characterised by the speed, scope, interconnectedness and global impact from virtual assistants to small devices, to facial recognition and chat GPT".
"On one hand, these powerful tools can engender tremendous goods by tackling pressing problems and enhancing the quality of life for people around the world. However, In the wrong hands, they can give rise to wide-scale manipulation, deception and worse", Tripathi added.
