What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“I get a unique sense of satisfaction from seeing my students grow and develop”

In my role as a teacher, I can impact and change the lives of many students. I can make learning more exciting and enjoyable for my students and help them succeed academically. My experience and knowledge make me feel that teaching is an opportunity to share my knowledge with students and help them achieve their goals. Students can be motivated and inspired to pursue higher education and explore other career options through the education sector.

What do you think your responsibilities to the University and the students are?

I must learn constantly and continuously to incorporate new teaching techniques”

As a teacher, my basic and important responsibilities are teaching and guiding the students. In addition to this, inspiration and motivation are the two important aspects. As an educator, I should be resourceful so that I can give correct and maximum information to my students in an easy way. I must play a role in designing various learning programs and their implementation.

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Providing equal education, reducing poverty and gender inequality"

I think the University’s top priority should be to enhance its quality and standards constantly. Within the next 10 years, it should be able to offer world-class education to the students. It is also necessary to focus on and increase the research abilities of both teachers and students. The University should support and fund the research projects of the faculty and students and encourage them to publish their research data. The university must collaborate with industries to maximize the learning experience and increase industrial exposure as well as job opportunities for the students.

What are some of the biggest challenges for the education sector?

The huge gap between industry and academia is a big challenge”

The biggest challenges which I have seen for higher education in the last couple of years are:-

  • The gradual decrease in the enthusiasm of students and parents towards higher education. This is reflecting a gradual decrease in student enrolments for higher education.
  • Fanatical difficulties and poverty is the major factor that is forcing the parents to send their children to work.
  • Due to a lack of industry exposure and practical hands-on experience, universities are producing graduates, postgraduates, and doctorates without skills.
  • More than 70% of students of St. Joseph’s college are girls from rural areas and most of them are married in their final year of graduation or immediately after graduation. After marriage parents and in-laws are not willing to send their girls for higher education.

How does the curriculum of St. Joseph institute ensure the best practice of industry?

“Bridging the industry-academia gap with the help of webinars with industry experts and entrepreneurs”

St. Joseph’s college has been trying to ensure the best practice of industry by encouraging applicative teaching. Students use these concepts to learn how to apply them to other sectors and industries. Due to the well-equipped laboratories at our college, faculty and students can collaborate with industries to gain more industrial exposure. We encourage students to complete their minor and major projects so that they become familiar with instruments, techniques, and how they function. They can use this to get jobs in the research and development departments of various industries or to start their own laboratories or industries. Our college is very active in organizing seminars and webinars with industry experts, entrepreneurs, and university professors. Our college places a special emphasis on the English proficiency of students.
