Dr. Chetan Singh Chauhan has been working as the Professor, Associate Dean and Head of Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at Bhupal Noble's Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Udaipur, Rajasthan. His area of specialization is Novel Drug Delivery System (Pharmaceutics) and he has an amazing 19 years of teaching experience. Also, he has published 15 research papers and has presented 40 papers in national and 30 papers in national conferences. He has also guided 10 PhD students.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

I firmly believe that my dedication to educating students and upgrading my skills has kept me associated with the education sector. The satisfaction and happiness which I receive after teaching students is so pure and generic. 

What would you like people to know about your institute that makes it unique and different from others?

We have been in existence since 1923 and since then we are committed to offer quality education to our students. And off-late 2016 we applied for affiliation under the Private Bhupal Nobles’ University. Also, our infrastructure is amazing and has world class facilities for students, staff and faculty members.

From my experience, I can confirm that the field of Pharmacy is very promising as far as the national and international prospectus are concerned. Pharmacy came into force only in 1963 and after the number of episodes of drug interactions most famous was the Thalidomide Tragedy, after which a regulatory agency was established that can control the listings, formalization and research activity as far as the medication industry is concerned. Pharmacy holds a lot of future in the discipline of research and development, education, teaching, marketing and especially in Drug Surveillance. 

How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practices of industry and is beneficial for students?

"It is developed by the Pharmacy Council of India, so automatically includes industry best practices"

The curriculum of Pharmacy education in India is governed by the Pharmacy Council of India. And as we are affiliated to the PCI, we also follow the curriculum designed by them. But on our level, we offer some benefits to our students, like we keep few fixes and time space available for the students and also keep our students updated about the latest technologies, trends and developments of the Pharmaceutical Industry. Apart from this, we regularly organize connect sessions to make students aware about the different types of licensing procedures in India and in overseas countries as well.

On what types of projects your students are currently working on under their respective courses? 

"Our students are developing an amazing project of Novel Distributary System"

Our students are currently working on the Novel Distributary System which is related to the field of Pharmaceutical Engineering. And they are deeply involved in the synthesis of new drug molecules and we also do research in Toxicology here.

How did you train yourself and your faculty members to deliver this program to the students?

"By regularly organizing connect programs and discussion sessions to educate each other"

For the purpose of upskilling our faculty members, we regularly guide them about the research projects, organize events and industry connect sessions to make them aware about the latest industrial development and requirements. In addition to this, we conduct discussion sessions on a regular basis to keep all of us updated about the latest technologies and trends related to our Department.

What career options would be available for students after pursuing Pharmacy courses from your college?

In today's time, a Bachelor Degree in the discipline of Pharmacy has become a passport to get into the Pharmaceutical Industry. And students after successfully completing their courses can go for higher education, enroll themselves in research programs and can also join the education sector to teach students. Apart from this, Marketing is also a very promising career option as far as the field of Pharmacy is concerned. 

Are there any suggestions which you would like to share with the current youth and aspiring students?

"Never get frustrated in your life and keep working towards your goals with patience and perseverance"

My suggestion to the current youth and aspiring students is that they should never get frustrated at any point or situation in life. Also keep trying until you achieve your life goals, and don't stay in your comfort zone just because you have the fear of failing. Don't take things for granted and don't think that you will easily get a job right after your graduation, but let me tell you the actual truth, this is not always the case as most of the students struggle a lot to secure a good position in a reputed company. So, stay updated with trends and developments of the outside world, be it society or the corporate sector itself.
