Assam’s B Borooah College Becomes First North-East Government Institute to Get NAAC A   Grade;

New Delhi: B Borooah College in Guwahati, Assam has received an A++ grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). With this, the college has become the first government institute in the North-East to earn the designation.

According to Education Minister Ranoj Pegu, the B Borooah College has been accredited with a CGPA of 3.62 which will be valid for five years. The education minister thanked Satyendra Nath Barman, the college's principal, for his success.

In a mail to BB College, NAAC said, “I am glad to inform you that the outcome of the Assessment and Accreditation (A&A) exercise of your institution has been processed and approved by the standing committee constituted by the executive committee to examine the peer team reports and declare the accreditation results”.

“Your institution has been accredited with a CGPA of 3.62 on a seven-point scale at A++ grade valid for a period of 5 years from 18-10-2023,” the council added. added. The NAAC will dispatch the original certificate of accreditation to the college in due course.

Complimenting the college for this achievement, Pegu said in a post on X, “Congratulations B Borooah College, Guwahati for being accredited with NAAC A+++ Grade (CGPA of 3.62 ). It is the first Govt. Sector college in the entire NE to receive NAAC A++. Kudos to the Principal Dr Satyendra Nath Barman and his team”.

The Assessment Outcome Document (AOD) can be downloaded via the portal and displayed on B Borooah College's official website. The NAAC council expressed confidence that the full peer team report, combined with the AOD, will enable the college to begin additional efforts to improve quality. 

According to the email, accredited institutions are required by NAAC criteria to keep the Self Study Report uploaded on the college's website until the validity period ends.
