Allahabad University Discontinues PGDCA, BA in Fashion Design Courses; PG Admission Ongoing for Academic Session 2024-25

New Delhi: Allahabad University has started the PG admission process for 2024. Students can apply for PG courses through the official website at aupravesh2024.cbtexam.in. Eligible candidates can register at the official website on or before June 5, 2024.

By May 22 evening, 12,987 candidates had registered online for 60 PG courses, and 4,009 had completed their application process by paying the necessary fees. Prof. Jaya Kapoor, PRO of Allahabad University, stated that niche courses with low student intake have been phased out in favor of more comprehensive programs.

Allahabad University PGDCA and BA in Fashion Design Discontinued

PG admission is based on the PGAT exam, a 300-mark test with 150 multiple-choice questions. However, due to low student interest, the university has discontinued admissions for the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Application (PGDCA) and BA in Fashion Design programs for the 2024-25 academic session.

The Centre of Computer Education under the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) has offered the program since 2008. It has 75 seats, and fee is INR 27,000 for the first semester and INR 25,000 for the second semester. The program is for two semesters, and diplomas are awarded upon completion.

IPS’s Centre of Fashion Design and Technology offers the BA in Fashion Design Program. It has 58 seats, and admissions are conducted through the CUET scores. The introduction of a five-year integrated course has reduced the demand for diploma courses.
