Dislikes
- Can get hectic at times.
- Weather in NL in general can be unpredictable.
Required Exams for Admission
Course Curriculum
- Most of the syllabus is quite updated and relevant.
- I did an internship at a company during my Masters. So I did have industrial exposure.
- If I recollect correctly, 2-3 classes per day, could start at 8:30-9am and last class would end at 4:30-5pm. (I graduated in 2023)
- Depends, could get as high as 50-60 or as low as 10. Depends on the course.
Admission Experience
- I had admits from 5 US schools (Purdue, Virginia tech, Suny Buffalo, UC Davis and ASU). I chose TU Delft because
- Higher ranked Civil Engineering program.
- Lesser tuition fees.
- Uncertainty about work visa post graduation in USA.
- Better work life balance in Europe.
- Fact that all My Indian seniors pursuing my track secured jobs which is a great positive sign of employability post graduation in TU Delft.
- Quicker path to permanent residence in NL than USA.
Faculty
- Not sure of the exact ratio. Usually very good and approachable. Exceptions do occur though. Very well-versed I would say. No one in general has left an indelible impact on me. Maybe bcoz I didn't interact with them that much.
Campus Life
- Just one campus in Delft, each faculty can have a student association which can organise events/bridge gap between prof and student. Also helps in networking with other colleagues.
- Very big library where you can work, excellent research facilities, very good sports complex too where you can play various sports.
Part Time Jobs
- I didnt do any part time so i am not fully sure how much they earn. Not many students go for TA/RA as course work can be quite hectic.
Placement
- That depends on the course that you are pursuing. Some master programs find it easier than others to find a job. I have seen civil engineers (including me) find jobs with more relative ease than some other tracks.
- 3000-3500 euros/month.
- There are career fairs. But these are not campus placements. You can go and speak to representatives of company and see if it aligns with your requirements.
- Career fairs are also a great source of networking. Apart from this knowing seniors working at a company can be helpful. LinkedIn message also can help. Sometimes professor contact with industry can be utilised too.
Accommodation
- Finding accommodation can be challenging. I found mine through university portal. This is the easiest way. But this FCFS. The earlier you pay tuition fees the quicker you get access to this portal. Other wise you have to look through Fb groups and some websites.
- There are scam postings also on FB. My monthly rent was 524 euros (effecftively 430 euros). It was a studio. It had a kitchen with few utensils (which u pay for) , bed, toilet, bathroom, study table etc
Exams
- GRE-317 (although this wasn't necessary for admission) , Toefl - 108, Motivation Letter, 3 Letters of Recommendation, Btech transcripts.
- Statement of Purpose, LoR, CV, Btech transcripts (I applied in my 7th semester, so first 6 transcripts were submitted)
Fees
- During my time it was 18375 euros for 1st year and 19000ish for second year. Now I think it has risen over 20k euros per year.
