I am immensely satisfied with my experience at University of Twente. The curriculum , infrastructure and exposure here is best in class and has helped me in boosting my technical skills on numerous levels. I have grown a lot as a person in past 1.5 years of my study. All I have is immense amount of gratitude for this place and the people I have met. The multi national culture at the University is conducive for growth and learning. I have met some extremely kind and helpful people. The requirements of curriculum has helped me hone my cognitive skills enormously.
Course Curriculum :
Course structure is extremely relevant to the newest technologies being used, research output is impeccable. Ample opportunities for Industrial internship and exposure were provided under the curriculum requirements. Multitude of research divisions exist working on newest technologies to solve real world problems.
Exams :
Admission requirements : IELTS 6.5 , TOEFL 90/120, CGPA 75% of the maximum score My scores : IELTS 8.0 , GRE 313. Had to submit SOP, CV , LOR was not specifically required for Embedded Systems. Bachelor thesis project description and course module description was among the list of required documents. Europass CV was suggested on the University's website, thus I chose specifically that format. SOP word length was < 1000 words. I made sure to include some information about the research area I was passionate about. Also included some information about research work done by the professor pertaining to my interests and seemed intriguing to me for thesis work.
Placement :
Post study job opportunities are ample. One year stay back for job search is also provided. There is no dearth of job in The Netherlands. Large number of companies, ranging from startups to MNCs are available and are involved in some top quality work. Median salary after Taxes in Netherlands for embedded systems is 3000-4500 euros /month. Jobs seek only English proficiency and thus finding jobs in Netherland sis extremely easy.
Internship :
I interned at Movella, in the capacity of Intern in the firmware department of their product series, the recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn inmail. Even internship opportunities are ample in the Netherlands.
Fees :
15,000-16000 Euros/ academic year.
Faculty :
I do not specifically have information about the ratio, but the faculties are extremely kind, knowledgeable and approachable. They are involved in some best in class research work and always appreciate queries coming from the students. Andre Kokkeler is one of the professor who had a deep impact on me owing to his style of teaching and his friendly attitude.
Campus Life :
Infrastructure is best in class, with best quality research facilities available in the labs. Access to highly technical facilities is also provided with great ease. Library is quite spacious with best infrastructural facilities such as project rooms, discussion rooms, meditating place, individual study spaces. Best in class sports facilities are provided and WIFI connectivity is available throughout the premises of the University campus.
Hostel :
Accommodation for 1st year is provided on campus to NON EU people. The buildings have accommodations ranging from 2 sharing 4, 6,7 12 sharing ones.
