Bachelor of Science [B.S] [Nursing (Intellectual Disability)] From University of Limerick

The BSc. Nursing (Intellectual Disability) is a full-time four year degree programme offered by the Department of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Limerick in conjunction with the Daughter of Charity Services. A wide range of clinical experiences are incorporated throughout the four years including early intervention, residential settings and community. On successful completion of the programme, you will be able to present for registration with An Bord Altranais agus Cn?imhseachais na h?ireann and practice as a Registered Nurse Intellectual Disability (R.N.I.D.). The Department of Nursing and Midwifery had received approval from An Bord Altranais agus Cn?imhseachais na h?ireann for the programme.

The BSc. Nursing (Intellectual Disability) is based on a philosophy of inclusion, empowerment and valuing people. This programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to become an analytical and reflective practitioner; one who is able to provide a holistic and caring approach to clients with an intellectual disability. This programme will enable you to integrate humanistic, scientific and research based principles enhancing your knowledge and understanding of the physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual needs of persons with intellectual disabilities. This knowledge will be acquired through the study and practice of nursing, biological sciences, social sciences and related disciplines.
