What students say about University of Limerick

Likes

  • Mostly, you wont have exams, and the marks will be given based on your projects.
  • The University itself organizes job fairs from time to time, and many companies turn up each time.
  • I think UL stands out for me till date, not particularly for the degree education, but more for the extracurricular aspect of it.
  • The university campus hostels are very nice and tidy, with all the amenities for the students.
  • The Kemmy Business School has many teachers, and it is one of the best universities in Ireland.
  • That said, I really think the university can do better in terms of checking on its international students regarding accommodation and actually implementing the concept of placement.

  • I dislike the disinterest of the university in getting their students proper affordable accommodation. I had a very bad experience in terms of finding accommodation in Limerick. And that was my main reason for leaving Ireland as well.

Overview:

UL was a breath of fresh air. It was a one off experience for me that I'll never have again in my life. That said, I really think the university can do better in terms of checking on their international students in terms of accommodation and actually bringing in the concept of placement. If these 2 can be taken care of, I think it'd become the most sought after university in Europe.

Fees:

My total tuition fee was around 11 lakhs in INR. And with accommodation and other living expenses I'd keep at least around 18 lakhs for my masters.

Overview:

My overall experience was great because this is the first time I came out from my home town and had to lead an independent life. If you are confident about yourself and have some patience in everything, you'll have a great life here regardless of the University you're choosing.

Fees:

At the time I joined, the fee was around 15,000 euros/year. My master's was a one year program.

Overview:

I have chosen this university because this is one of the top universities of Ireland with so much facilities and I have gone through various researches as well so I found this university to be good for me.

How could I manage a supervisor for PhD from University of Limerick?
P
Piyush Punyani

Managing PhD supervisors requires balancing diverse opinions and expectations. You typically have a main supervisor and possibly assistant supervisors who offer additional expertise. Clear communication about expectations is crucial at the beginning. Keeping detailed notes from meetings helps in navigating differing advice. Building strong relationships is vital; research potential supervisors beforehand and attend university events to assess compatibility.

If conflicts arise, address them directly with evidence-based discussions. Maintain professionalism, even when faced with challenges, as good relationships can lead to collaborations, job recommendations, and mentorship opportunities, significantly enhancing your PhD experience and future career prospects.
