Why Study Aircraft Maintenance And Airworthiness At UL?

The aircraft maintenance, technical operations and continuing airworthiness sectors are vital parts of the global aviation industry. The new Bachelor of Science in Aircraft Maintenance and Airworthiness Engineering has been developed in response to growing demand from these sectors, and is jointly delivered by UL and Lufthansa Technik Shannon Ltd, a leading multinational maintenance, repair, overhaul (MRO) and modifications? services provider for civil operated aircraft.

The programme is of four years duration divided into eight academic semesters. Year 1 provides students with fundamental subjects which are part of any University Engineering degree, such as Mathematics, Engineering Science, CAD, Materials, and Computing. In Year 2, the focus is on six of the EASA modules, covering topics like Electrical Fundamentals, Instrumentation Systems, Materials and Hardware, Aerodynamics and Maintenance Practices. Year 3 completes the remaining 7 EASA modules.

A highlight of the programme is the On-Aircraft Practical Training module in the summer after Year 3, which is a structured programme at the Lufthansa Technik Shannon Ltd base maintenance facility, introducing the Part 145 Aircraft Maintenance environment, its practices, procedures and integrated engineering support functions.?
