- The Master’s degree programme in Mechanical Engineering at Leibniz Universität Hannover is noted for the great freedom of choice offered to students.
- The only compulsory modules are Machine Dynamics and Industrial Science. At a later stage of the programme, students may expand on their individual technical expertise and specialise in the optional areas of expertise in “Energy and Process Engineering”, “Development and Construction”, or “Production Technology”.
- Alternatively, students may decide not to focus on any area of specialisation at all, preferring to gain a wide range of knowledge and skills.
- Industrial visits, tutorials and the Studium Generale are also part of the course. Students expand on and provide evidence of their ability to produce scientific work by completing a preparatory student research project and a final Master’s thesis.
- Students who completed at least twelve weeks of practical training at the Bachelor’s stage can take further options from the three areas of specialisation.
- Students who have not yet completed practical training are required to do so by the time they register for the Master’s thesis at the latest.
