- Latin studies deal with the culture of Roman antiquity on the basis of written records. In addition to the Latin language, the non-textual reality is also researched.
- The aim of the course is to acquire a sound knowledge of the Latin language and literature and to handle the texts critically. The main research areas in Osnabrück are medieval and early modern literature as well as the reception of Latin literature in humanism. There is also interest in the history of classical philology in the 19th and 20th centuries.
- The Master of Education, which prepares for school service at the high school, also includes didactic seminars and readings, in which the focus is on teaching the Latin language, literature, and culture in high school Latin lessons.
