What Students Say
Likes
- The campus is beautiful. The location is right in the heart of Berlin.
- Internship module: I had a chance to work with large well known corporates right along with my studies which gave me an edge while applying for full time jobs.
- Diverse class: The class was quite diverse in terms of nationality (atleast 20+ different nationalities)
Dislikes
- The admin departments (Program office, exam office etc.) are very slow to respond and also miss out on key information
- Length of the program: I felt like this program could have been wrapped up in 1-1.5 years instead of 2 years.
- Career services: They were not super helpful, the internships and jobs I got were through my personal hardwork and skills.
Scholarship Received
Course Curriculum
- Since I studied at NIT Warangal, the difficulty level I felt was very easy. However, the curriculum was nice. It was a mix of group discussions and projects, individual assignments, exams and some class short tests.
- Positive: Very nice course structures. Your grade was not dependent on 1 exam alone
- Negative: In some ways it is quite rigid, as you can't pick and choose multiple courses like in the US
- Total number of students in my batch: 120 . Total number of indian students: 14
Admission Experience
- ESMT Berlin: Accepted with scholarship
- Frankfurt school of finance and management: Accepted with scholarship
- EBS Business School: Accepted with scholarship
- I did not receive any rejections from the colleges I applied to. I also did not apply to any other universities, as I wanted to only study in germany.
- Although i did not get any rejections, My advise to other students would be to start the application process early.
- Strong alumni network, Class diversity and location made me choose ESMT Berlin.
- Online application process with short essay questions, Online interview (30 min) -> results
- GMAT, GRE, IELTS (no minimum scores mentioned). However, the average GMAT score i have seen is 650.
- Admissions process is quite straightforward and easy. Just need to follow the steps mentioned.
-
I applied for the September 2022 intake
- Factors: I knew i wanted to go to germany after 2 years of work experience, so i planned ahead.
- The entire process took me 3 weeks
- Application submission: November 1st 2021 (This took me barely 1 hour since I had prepared everything in advance.)
- Invitation to interview: 4th November 2021
- Interview: 14th or 15th November 2021 (Don't remember)
- Final result: 25th November 2021
Faculty
- I would say there is about 1 faculty member per every 35 students. This is quite good, as the professors are interactive and responsive to your questions and office hours.
- I would say there is a disconnect between the overall course and landing a job but this might be due to the job market situation right now. I got my job due to my personal knowledge and skills.
- However, I liked their teaching methodology, as we played simulation games, made presentations and learnt through practical case studies.
Campus Life
- 1 campus in Berlin
- There is a library and multiple individual study rooms
- Popular events: ESMT olympics, Digitial future summit, Future global summit
- Multiple student clubs, like Net impact club, finance club, product management club, investment club
- There is also always culture day where every day, one showcases their culture though food, dancing and other activities
Part Time Jobs
- There are very few RA jobs available to students and nothing else on campus.
- Pay range is 1200-1500 EURs a month (20 hours a week)
- During classes, the maximum you can work is 20 hours a week and 40 hours a week when there are no classes.
- It is hard to find jobs on campus but to be honest, most people prefer going off campus for jobs to pad their CVs.
- Pay range for part-time (Working student jobs): 13 to 16 euros per hour. It is difficult to secure a part-time job currently due to the economic conditions; however, all indian students I knew have worked in part-time office jobs and not jobs like delivery and all. The usual process is to apply on LinkedIn and interview for them like regular jobs.
Placement
- I would say 70% of the recent graduates receive offers within the first 6 months of graduating.
- Average Salary range: 50k euros to 60k euros
- Networking events on campus, linkedIn applications are the most common ways people get jobs.
- The major hiring companies are
- Deutsche Telekom
- Allianz
- Bosch
- Deutsche Bank
- BCG
- Bain
- Deloitte
Accommodation
- I used whatsapp groups, facebook groups and platforms like immoscout and wunderflats.
- I found my accommodation on wunderflats and it was 350 euros per month.
- My apartment is 35 min away from my university
- The greatest challenge is not falling for scams. Especially in berlin, there are a lot of scams. Hence, only book apartments through trusted and verified platforms like wunderflats.
Exams
- IELTS or TOEFL and GRE or GMAT is needed
- CV, references, 3 essay questions and additional 1 essay question for scholarships
- Interview call was part of the process and it was 30 min. However, it was very chill. They asked me questions about why I wanted to join the university, what my plans are afterwards, my hobbies and my interests.
- The Interview was conducted over zoom.
Fees
- 27,500 Euros for the entire program. I had to pay half in the first year and the second half at the beginning of the second year of studies. I did not have to pay hostel or other charges, as I had to look for housing on my own.
- Monthly expenses: 850 euros
- Rent: 350 euros
- Insurance: 150 euros
- Transport: 60 euros
- Groceries: 160 euros
- Gym and others: 50 euros

- I received 5000 euros for this scholarship
- There is no financial aid; however, 10% of my batchmates received scholarships with an average amount of 2000 euros
- As I mentioned, 10% of my batchmates received scholarships, which is about 15 - 20 students
