Saurabh Jadhav Review at HTW Berlin-University Of Applied Sciences, Berlin | Collegedunia

Diving into the world of HTW Berlin

It was an experience of mixed emotions. So many new things, diverse cultures, different way of education, excellent Professor from different fields. Taught me how to be confident and get into the market and make a position for yourself.

Course Curriculum :

The faculties were all PHD holders, experts in their particular fields which helped us with the updated information and knowledge. We were also given excursions.

Exams :

I took IELTS exam. My score was band 7 out of band 9. Min 7 band required for my university. Yes, we had to submit SOP and LORs. Just make it genuine, do not fake anything. Keep it point to point. Try to focus on your skills and the impact it had.

Placement :

A good university doesn't ensure that you'll get a job, its very different from India. For example, in India we have placements and if it's a good college then chances of getting placed is very high. But in Germany, no matter from which university you have taken your degree, companies don't care. They only see your skills and experiences. So if one is coming for a management course in Germany, an experience of minimum two years is required. Salaries differ from place to place and profile to profile and company to company.

Internship :

I got a Working Student at BASF which paid me 13 Euros an hour. I had to work 20 hours a week. You will see internship/working students advertisement on job portals like linkedin, glassdoor, stepstone. Apply with a good CV and a good cover letter.

Fees :

I came in 2019, that time it was 12500 Euros for three semester. Public transport in entire Berlin is included in it so no need to pay additional money for public transport.

Faculty :

All faculties were approachable. The only difference is that they won't come to you for spoon feeding, it's your responsibility to approach them if you have to deep dive in particular subject. Our Procurement professor left an impact on me because he was 75 yrs old yet super active, worked as a top management in Daimler in Supply Chain and hence was super updated and also have an amazing way of teaching.

Campus Life :

Campus of HTW Berlin is 4 on 5. There are two campus and classes are divided in these two. Infrastructure is really good, all modern amenities are there, sports clubs and everything is available. Multiple competitions or social services are occasionally happening. Entire campus is wifi friendly. Labs are equipped with modern technologies. It's a public university and these are the perks of it.

Hostel :

We had govt subsided student accommodation which are only available to students from public university. It can be a studio room or a sharing room. Rent: 350-400 Euros Monthly grocery: 300 Euros
