Candidates who have secured the minimum NEET 2024 cut off of 50th percentile (40th percentile for SC/ ST/ OBC) and fulfill other domicile requirements can participate in the Tamil Nadu NEET counselling process.

  • The counselling process consists of four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round and Stray Vacancy Round.
  • Candidates have to fill and lock choices according to their preference in each of the counselling rounds.
  • If the candidate wants to get admission at the allotted institute in any of the rounds, he/she must present at the intimidated venue for document verification and report at the allotted institute within the stipulated date and time with the provisional seat allotment letter.
  • The Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024 is done for the admission to 85% State Quota seats in Government Medical/ Dental Colleges, Government Quota seats in Self Financing Private Medical/ Dental Colleges and ESIC Medical College and PGIMSR Chennai.

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2024: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates are advised to check Tamil Nadu NEET counselling criteria before applying for the counselling process. Following is the basic eligibility criteria for Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2024:

  • Nationality: Candidate should be a citizen of India.
  • Age: Candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or on or before 31st December 2024.
  • Nativity: Candidates should be native of Tamil Nadu and submit their nativity certificate issued by the competent authority of Government of Tamil Nadu with a proof of documents like Passport/ ration Card/ Birth Certificate.
  • Candidates who are native of other states of India but studies their schooling from VI to XII standards continuously in Tamil Nadu must produce their school Bonafide Certificate from the school they studied, to be considered under the Open Category.
  • Candidates who are native of Tamil Nadu, but have studied their schooling from VI to XII standards outside Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply with nativity certificate and community certificate issued by competent authority along with required proof of documents.
  • Qualifying Criteria: Candidates who qualify the NEET 2024 with at least 50th percentile (40th percentile for SC/ SC/ other backward classes) are eligible to participate in Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024.
    • PwD candidates belonging to unreserved category should have obtained a minimum of 45th percentile (40th percentile for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates) in NEET 2024.
    • Candidates must have passed 10+2 in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology and English individually with 50% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates) marks in aggregate.
    • PwD candidates should have passed 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology and English individually with 45% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates) marks in aggregate.

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2024: Required Documents

Candidates are required to submit a valid set of documents at the time of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling process. Failing in submitting the needed documents may result in cancellation of application. The important documents required for Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024 include:

  • NEET-UG 2024 Admit Card
  • NEET-UG 2024 Score Card
  • SSLC/ 10th, 11th and 12th or equivalent examination Mark sheet (Both sides)
  • Transfer Certificate obtained after completion of HSC or equivalent courses.
  • Nativity Certificate to claim the residence in Tamil Nadu
  • Certificate for proof of study from VI to XII standards for candidates who have studied completely in Tamil Nadu

Registration Process

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling 2024: Registration Process

The Tamil Nadu NEET counselling form 2024 can be filled online from the official website. Candidates are advised to read all the instructions carefully and keep ready all the required documents in PDF format before filling out the application form. The steps of the registration process includes following:

  • Visit any one of the official website for Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024 at – tnmedicalselection.net or tnhealth.tn.gov.in.
  • Log in and fill out all the mandatory details in the application form such as Personal details, Address, Academic details, Category, Entrance Exam details, etc.
  • Upload the scanned photograph, signature and other required documents in the prescribed format.
  • Pay the counselling fees Debit card/ Net Banking.
  • Submit the application form.

Submission of Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling Application Form for Special Categories

Candidates who are Eminent Sports Person, Person with Benchmark Disabilities and Children of Ex-Servicemen fall under a Special Category. Applicants seeking admission to MBBS or BDS courses under Special Category are required to pay additional INR 100 online via bank payment portal with relevant certificates claiming that Special Category.

  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and Children of Ex-Servicemen must submit their application online as well as offline. They must submit the downloaded filled in online application with enclosure before due date by post/ courier/ in person to the following address:

The application fee for Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024 is non-refundable. Candidates can pay the fee through debit card or net banking portals of nationalized banks. The processing charge with applicable taxes by the respective banks will also be paid by the candidates for online payment. The counselling fee for Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024 is as follows:

Tamil Nadu NEET Counselling Process 2024

Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024 is conducted for admission in MBBS/ BDS courses following the rule of reservation for the State Quota seats in Government Medical/ Dental Colleges, Government Quota seats in Self Financing Private Medical/ Dental Colleges and ESIC Medical College and PGIMSR Chennai. The final admission is done based on the NEET 2024 scores and choices locked by the candidates in different phases of counselling process. The counselling process consists of various steps and different phases. Candidates are advised to register and lock their choices of seats for each phase of counselling before the due date as mentioned in the counselling schedule. The Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024 includes following steps:

Step 1: Tamil Nadu NEET counselling Registration

Eligible candidates must register online within the stipulated time by filling out the Tamil Nadu NEET counselling application form 2024 to participate in the counselling process. Along with non-refundable counselling fee of INR 500, candidates also have to pay the Security Deposit as mentioned below:

The SC/ SCA/ ST candidates are exempted from paying security deposit if annual income is less than INR 2.5 LPA and SC candidates converted to Christianity are exempted from security deposit if their annual income is less than INR 2 LPA.

Step 2: Declaration of Counselling Rank List

The authorities will release a merit list based on the scored obtained by candidates in the NEET 2024 examination. Candidates who qualify the minimum cutoff requirement and made it to the merit list are called for the online Tamil Nadu NEET counselling process.

Step 3: Choice Filling and Locking

After completion of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling registration, candidate must fill out and lock their choice of colleges according to their preference for each phase of counselling process. Lock the choices of college very carefully as once the candidate locks his/her choices, it cannot be changed under any circumstances.

Step 4: First Phase of Online Counselling

  • Candidates who register and pay a counselling fee of INR 500 are eligible to attend the first and subsequent phases of online Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024.
  • After completion of round 1, provisionally selected candidates are called for original document verification at the allotted venue which is intimidated later in the official website. After successful verification, candidates can download the provisional allotment letter by paying the tuition fee.
  • If the candidate does not report at the allotted institute on time, he/she can participate in the second phase of counselling.
  • Candidates who opt out of any Medical/ Dental Colleges in first phase of counselling cannot claim the opted out colleges for locking their further phases of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024.
  • The vacant seats of PwD candidates are added in the General Category in first phase of counselling.

Step 5: Second Phase of Online Counselling

  • The authorities will publish seat vacancies based on the rank following the rule of reservation.
  • Candidates, who attend a second phase of counselling, must fill out the fresh choices of college.
  • If the candidate discontinues/ not joins the course after completion of the second phase of online counselling, he/ she is not allowed to participate in the subsequent phase and has to forfeit the processing fee/ security deposit & tuition fee paid by him/ her.
  • Re-allotment is permitted only during the second phase of counselling.
  • If the candidate is re-allotted, then the MBBS/ BDS seat allotted to them during the first phase of counselling will be allotted to other candidates in descending order.

Step 6: Mop-up Round of Counselling

  • Candidates who are not allotted and joined any seats under All India Quota or previous rounds of State Quota can participate in the Mop-up round of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2024.
  • If a candidate gets any seat in the State Mop-up round, he/she is not permitted to participate in Management Mop-up counselling.
  • Candidates who are satisfied with their seat have to report in person at the allotted college with provisional allotment order before stipulated date and time.
  • If the candidate fails to report at the respective institute, the seat will be considered as discontinued, and the candidate has to pay penalty charges.

Step 7: Stray Counselling Round

  • It is the last round of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling which is conducted by the respective Self Financing Medical/ Dental colleges only.
  • Stray round is conducted based on Dar-Su-Slam judgment from merit list in ration 1:10 sent by the selection committee.
  • Candidates who are not allotted any seat in the previous round can participate in the stray vacancy round.
  • Candidates are required to join the respective allotted institute on the specified date and time.

I have not choice locked in first section of counseling.Will I be able to join second round..

To participate in the Second round of counseling, you must register for it before the deadline. However, the application deadline for the Second round of counseling was August 22, 2023. But you can register and participate in the Mop Up round of counseling.

Tamil Nadu NEET counseling 2023 is currently going on for the second round. The official dates for Mop Up Round has not bee announced yet, Students who are not allotted and joined any seats under All India Quota or previous rounds of State Quota can participate in the Mop-up round of Tamil Nadu NEET counselling 2023.

Yes, you are eligible to apply and participate in the third or mop up round of NEET counseling even though you have not participated in round 1 and 2.

I want to apply for Neet PG counseling for both Medical Council of India & Tamil Nadu Medical Council. (For Government quota & Deemed University quota). Kindly inform me how much amount should I pay as Refundable deposit.

Along with non-refundable counselling fee of INR 500, students also have to pay the security deposit according to their admission seat. There is no security deposit for government medical and dentals colleges. But the secuirty deposit for government quota seats in self-financing Medical or Dental Colleges is INR 30000.
