Correct Answer: 50

Solution and Explanation

A pole is vertically submerged in swimming pool,

𝑠𝑖𝑛60 = 4/3 𝑠𝑖𝑛 π‘Ÿ
⟹ 𝑠𝑖𝑛 π‘Ÿ = 3/4 Γ— √3/ 2 = 3√3/8………(i)
π‘π‘œπ‘  π‘Ÿ = \(\sqrt{1 βˆ’ 27/64}\) = √37/8 = 0.75
⟹ π‘‘π‘Žπ‘› π‘Ÿ = \(\sqrt{27/37}\)
⟹ π‘₯/1.5 = 0.85
⟹ π‘₯ = 0.85 Γ— 1.5 = 1.275π‘š
π‘‘π‘Žπ‘› 30 = 𝑦/2.15βˆ’1.275 =0.50
𝑦=0.875/1.732 = 0.50
So length of pole above water surface = 0.50m=50cm
