- The program aims to teach students to apply computational theories to solve real-life programming techniques; analyze software requirements; design, implement, and test software systems; plan and manage software projects; solve technical problems; and practice co-design and embedded systems construction.
- They become engineering professionals and leaders in a broad scope of projects.
- The Software Systems Engineering (SSE) program is designed to give students the knowledge to analyze, design, and develop software operating on many types of computers and microprocessors.
- All engineering students take a common initial core program consisting of the basic maths and sciences needed by all engineers, plus introductory design courses.
- In accordance to the general admission policy, students who may not have a complete background in the program area as determined by SSE may be admitted conditionally as qualifying students, and may be asked to complete additional graduate courses to qualify for the program.
- Applicants with a MEng degree may be admitted to the PhD program but are required to take at least one additional course in research methodology .
- MEng students will normally be assigned a project supervisor just prior to starting their project or during the first semester of the MEng project course.
- Meng Students have project and co-op option. Credit hours required for co-op option is 38 whereas for project its 30.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students have a graduating average of at least 70 percent from a four-year bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- The related fields include a UG degree in computer science programs are software security, data security, agent-oriented software engineering, software reuse, Software Engineering, and Web Intelligence.
- GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 (B grade).
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and GRE to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students have to complete a four-year undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
- Students with a marginally lower four-year average may be accepted if their performance in the last two complete years is significantly higher (75% or more).
- Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
