Required Exams for Admission
A comprehensive list of extracurriculars is required, otherwise the holistic process just consists of your high school GPA. Carleton University offers one of the only Pre-Law programs in Canada, which is what majorly drew me towards it. Along with that, the placements in the fields of psychology and law are quite well-reputed. The city of Ottawa as well, since the Parliament is located there, is what made me choose Carleton due to the plethora of internship opportunities. Till now, my experience at Carleton has been amazing, right from the academic structure of my course, to the approach of the faculty, to the social assimilation.
Course Curriculum
The course curriculum is quite relevant and updated with regards to my chosen undergraduate degree, as the university offers a variety of electives in order to strengthen one's overall knowledge about the content.
Faculty
Usually, a lot of first-year classes are quite large, however the population of students in each class decreases as the year standing increases. From my personal experience, the faculty is quite approachable, as they host office hours weekly, and try their best to help the students succeed in the course!
Campus Life
There are a myriad of clubs associated with a lot of things at the University. Since the campus is huge, there are also a lot of buildings dedicated to the research facilities in every discipline.
Placement
Carleton hosts a lot of career fairs every semester so that students can get in touch with recruiters for internships or placements. This usually gives students a better idea about their chosen field.
Accommodation
There are 8 residential buildings on campus, each connected through tunnels, which make commuting easier during the winter months.
Exams
My scores: IELTS 8.5 The whole process was based on my high school GPA along with my extra-curriculars otherwise. No, there was no interview conducted.
Fees
On an average, the Bachelor of Arts Honours course (without the scholarship) goes up to $15,000 per semester.
Scholarship
Yes, I received an entrance scholarship.
