Ziyaul Mustufa Rana Review at Durham College, Oshawa | Collegedunia

Diploma in CLBT in Durham College

The overall experience was very good. I would rate 8 out of 10. Faculty was very helpful, lots of room for entertainment and relaxation, free tuition classes.

Course Curriculum :

Syllabus was very basic. If I talk about Math, it was something that I had studied in class 10 and that too in State board. However, Chemistry was little bit difficult throughout the course, especially analytical chemistry.

Exams :

Score: IELTS: Min 6 bands each, My Score: 7 High School: Min 60 score in Maths/Physics/Chemistry/Biology. SOP, - 1. Why do you want to study this course 2. Why you want to go to this specific college 3. Why you want to move in Canada. No, I didn’t have any rounds of interview. The process was very straightforward. Just apply to the college, wait for the offer letter, pay the fees, apply for visa and that’s it.

Placement :

There are lot of jobs in this field, however there’s also a lot of competition. People from abroad who have studied B. Sc in Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry / Biology/ Microbiology , B. pharm, Chemical Engineering, or High School opt for this course.

Internship :

No, there was no internship in this course. However, 3 years advanced diploma has a mandatory internship.

Fees :

Semester 1: $9000 Semester 2: $8000 Semester 3: $8000 Semester 4: $7500

Scholarship :

No, diploma courses in Canada don’t have any kind of scholarships except for those who score 7+ bands in IELTS.

Faculty :

For me best professor was Suad Zaman. It was her 1st year as a teaching faculty and she did a great job. She taught chemistry the same way we do in India in school. Other professors were also very kind and supportive.

Campus Life :

Infrastructure was way beyond expectations. There were lot of amenities like Basketball ground, tennis ground, cricket, baseball, football, dome, swimming pool, IT lab, massage and therapy room, free snacks, prayer room, canteens and many more.

Hostel :

Private rooms were little bit expensive that sharing but it has its own advantages. The average room for a private room is $800 and for a shared room is $500. Utilities are extra which are around $70 per person on average.
