Reeja Varghese Review at University Of Calgary [UCALGARY], Calgary | Collegedunia

My true experience

I have had a great time since coming here. Don't expect that there will always be somebody to help you out because once you cross the border you are all on your own. Appreciate the little help you are getting. Please, sorry, thank you should not leave your lips.

Course Curriculum :

I am pretty much content with the course syllabus. They are covering the topics that are helpful to the graduates.

Exams :

My score for IELTS : 7.5 overall. I wrote the exam in September 2021. I had to submit CV and SOP. In SOP please mention that you will return back to India and the companies that you intend to apply for once you are back. Show that you have strong connections back in your home country. Don't lie about the scores in your CV. The certificates should be legit. I had no specific interviews or tests because the application itself consisted of so many questions that checked my knowledge in the field and my passion.

Placement :

I am not so sure about this since I haven't attended any of the placement events because of my schedule. But I have seen a good number of events in the campus that will be very helpful for the students.

Internship :

I don't have co-op. I suggest everyone to take the course with co-op because here industries only need students with co-op for their internships. I got one opportunity though but it is from September to April for that I will have to postpone my last year studies so I chose not to go for the internship.

Fees :

For a year it is approximately 12 lakhs. There is a chance that it will increase in the coming years though since the demand for seats is increasing.

Scholarship :

I didn't receive any scholarship but I received bursary from my University.

Faculty :

The faculty and staff are very helpful here. We have teaching assistants who are there to help even if the teachers aren't available.

Campus Life :

There are many clubs and their events, many places to focus and read, etc. The libraries are having plethora of books to choose from including topics of spiritual and mental wellness. WiFi facility is available throughout the campus which is a great thing for the students.

Hostel :

Your rent basically depends on the area you are choosing to stay. There are places to stay near the campus itself it will be a bit expensive. Probably more than 550 cad and other utility charges. I live about 1.5km away from campus but it's near to a Mall so it is 510cad+ 40% utility charges . So expect a total of around 600 and Groceries worth 150. There will be places with less rent though but I just chose this place because its 10 minutes walking distance to my work.
