Raghu Govind Pillai Review at Monash University, Melbourne | Collegedunia

Monash Engineering (2019-2021)

Overall, it would say it was good and refreshing, especially as an international graduate. Though, facilities could've been handled well during COVID, the on-campus classes and labs would have to be the major takeaway when it came to academics. Events would always be there Year round, so there's no shortage of freebies to look for.

Course Curriculum :

The course and syllabus were updated periodically every 2-3 years. Yes, industrial were provided through, guest lectures, site visits, lab tests and sometimes even internships.

Exams :

Any recognized English test plus good academics. TOEFL: 115/120. CV, SOP were options to strengthen your application for the program, and if recognized well, had incentives of scholarships.

Placement :

There were opportunities but several of the companies either advertised for bachelors or citizens or permanent residents.

Internship :

There are internship opportunities but they wouldn't be publicly advertised, so it is up to the student to go for them. I had done an internship for Rotary International as part of the MITI 2020-21 program. The stipend amount was AUD 7000. The process included giving a written application. Once selected, a round of GDs, and then when selected, writing cover letters for 2 programs you were interested in, for which if selected you'd be interviewed for.

Fees :

At the time: AUD: 90,000.

Scholarship :

Yes, AUD 8000.

Faculty :

I believe around 1: 10 or 1: 15 when it came to Eng classes. Compared to Indian universities, faculty were very approachable, especially associate professors.

Campus Life :

There are multiple events and extracurricular activities as part of the Monash campus life. From clubs, tech groups to hostel groups, casual sport fans, country based groups, you name it.

Hostel :

There were both on campus and off campus accommodation options, with the latter being more affordable (may be at the cost of infrastructure but that is subjective to the tenant). Most rooms were share houses, i.e, private rooms with shared facilities such as kitchens and washrooms. On average, the off campus accommodation can go anywhere between 500-1000 monthly (without bills).
