  • It was more theoretical than practical and for computer students it was very difficult but there are some changes.
  • Maybe it will get easier for the up coming students and for the remaining students it was a lot easy when compared to CS Students.

Fees

  • Its an semester based fee structure and 1000USD for each credit we need to complete 31 credits for the entire course.
  • There are lot of houses for off campus housing and there is an option for on campus housing but it is expensive. In off campus the rent will be depend up on you like what kind of room you need around it will be like 300 per month on average. And for maintenance it will be around 100 like for mobile, wifi and gym e.t.c:

  • Facebook Marketplace is the best place to go for finding accommodation. Apps like Zillow are also really good.
  • Some challenges include finding good roommates so make sure you choose wisely.
  • Also finding a decent space with proximity to a bus that goes to the campus.
  • These points are really important to be aware of.

  • Zillow and Trulia are the most trusted websites where you can find trusted accommodations.
  • Where there are listings and you have scheduled an appointment with the landlord for viewing the house and making a decision. I haven't faced any issues. Finding the right house according to your requirements is tough.

  • This, at a glance, would be one challenging yet rewarding SUNY Albany Master's in Data Science, with a thoroughly well-rounded curriculum that aptly balances theory and practice; starting from statistical modeling, machine learning, data visualization, to big data processing-the topics one would see are many. Most assignments also would normally contain practical projects on actual data-sets along with usage of various important industry tools like Python, R, and SQL-so the students are well-matched for industry positions.
  • Positives: Course curricula are very industry-oriented. The students get exposed to the latest technologies and frameworks in use currently within the data science world. Professors are a mix of researchers and people with industry experience, so it makes the learning process quite interactive. Varieties of projects and networking opportunities are there: projects with local organizations, meetups, and conferences. All these make the program an excellent pathway to excellence in the career of students aspiring to become data scientists.
  • Disadvantages are: the workload is pretty intensive because of many assignments, projects, and exams, for which good time management will be required; maybe some very specialized interests are not going to be covered by available electives - this is a drawback if one intends to get a highly specialized training; international students take time to adapt to the American system in class or grading system.
  • The program is well-rounded, providing the skill set and opportunities to succeed in such a competitive data science environment, amidst intense academics and practical exposure.

Fees

  • The total fee for a graduate student is 35 lakhs in rupees and 33 thousand in dollars.
  • Based on your previous degree score you will get a scholarship of 2500 dollars per semester.
  • And you can review it on the application website by accepting or rejecting the offer.
  • Transportation is free of cost of students studying at university at albany. You just need to swipe your id card in the bus.

  • The difficulty level was moderate for people with the technical background but was hard for people with no technical background. the course was available for people of all backgrounds and hence it was not mentioned earlier that the coding background is necessary. but we had almost 3 courses which were core courses that required coding in Python and Bash.
  • According to me, this ambiguity regarding coding experience was a negative aspect.

Fees

  • $1000 for every credit. We were allowed to enrol in 18 credits for a semester. The maximum limit of the fees was $12000 and the minimum was $9000, as the minimum credits for international students were 9.
  • I personally found the campus housing pretty expensive; hence, I rented an apartment off campus.
  • My rent was $350 and groceries and my utility bill were paid separately. Monthly, my expense was $500.

The course and curriculum was relevant to current market standards and Academics were satisfactory. As majority of the professors mind their class work, it's students job to get what they want. I have observed majority of the students just go with the flow and never be vocal about what they want. So, professors just go with their way and students just follow them. As for the industrial exposure and research experience, the university has tied up with an organization who provides internships with companies like NSA, IBM and deloitte etc. But these are unpaid internships but are valuable enough to give industrial exposure.

Fees

I have paid $27000 for my program. I have done my masters in an year starting from spring 2023 to fall 2023.

The course curriculum and academics are manageable for me. It's heavily dependent on team work and presentations. The 4th semester comprises of an Externship whereby the students get real life experience working for a real, local company to build upon practical skills.

Fees

I am a NY resident and I pay $8,687.50 per semester, which is $1,187.50 per credit. An international student will have to pay $13,627.50 per semester, which is $27,255 for 2 semesters with all additional fees included.

It's very challenging because a lot of critical thinking is required, but I am learning a lot through the curriculum. It's very fast paced and needs a lot of motivation to study alone. If you can't push yourself, it's gonna be hard to succeed.

Fees

I use financial aid to pay for all fees and other charges. So I'm not sure exactly how it's structured.
