The University of Arizona journalism program, founded in 1951 and nationally accredited since 1964 is one of the oldest programs. Faculty members have significant professional experience from working at The New York Times, the BBC, television news stations, and through Pulitzer-Prize winning investigative reporting career projects. Students are taught how to gather information, critically analyze it, and communicate it effectively, accurately, and ethically. They provide one of the very few programs to require every student to take courses in ethics, public affairs reporting, and media publication to apply skills in the real world. Students also are trained in the latest technology they need to succeed in an ever-changing digital media environment.
