Earning your BS or BA in Accounting with a public accounting concentration gives you flexibility in choosing employment or furthering your education. If you choose immediate employment, you will have the skills to obtain an entry-level position in service industries, manufacturing or government. If you choose to further your education, you will have the coursework necessary to enter graduate programs in accounting such as the Master of Accountancy. Additional education beyond a BS or BA in Accounting will typically qualify you to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination.

As a TROY student, you will have an opportunity to seek a paid internship at one of the many local, regional and national firms that recruit students from Troy University. Most of the internships offered to TROY students begin in January of each year and last three months. Your degree completion will not be extended if you earn an internship opportunity.

You will also be invited to participate in the many recruiting activities sponsored by the School of Accountancy. You will take part in our annual Accountancy Day celebration which provides networking opportunities with local, regional and national CPA firms as well as government agencies and industry representatives. You will also be invited to participate in our Meet the Firms recruiting events that offer one-on-one networking opportunities. You will have occasions to build your job-seeking skills in our Interview Skills Workshops co-sponsored with the Alabama Society of CPAs.

As a TROY student, you will also join the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)?one of the most prestigious professional organizations in the United States?as well as the Alabama Society of CPAs. You will be encouraged to participate in professional activities and to join other professional associations including the Accounting Society. In short, the School of Accountancy will provide many opportunities for you to improve your networking and job-seeking skills.

While you earn your degree at Troy University, you will be supported by our diverse and experienced faculty. The School of Accountancy is committed to helping you achieve your educational goals. Because our faculty members have significant, real-world experience, course instruction focuses not only on vital concepts but also on practical application of these concepts.

TROY?s Accounting Advisory Council provides valuable guidance to the program, ensuring that the program is structured to meet the needs of accounting professionals and the business community.
