- The Honors concentration is an enhancement of the two existing concentrations in English. All English majors must select either the Writing or Literature concentration. Honors students draw upon courses in both concentrations and complete an additional 12 units, or 3 courses, beyond the requirements of the major. In addition, students write an Honors Thesis incorporating both creative and critical components.
- Student will:
- Acquire a basic understanding of the literary, historical, social, or cultural influences that inform literary works
- Articulate in writing and discussion responses to literary texts, regardless of the language of the texts or instruction
- Develop a basic critical ability to identify, interpret, and evaluate ideas and formal features of an integrated body of literary texts
- Develop a sensitivity to the plurality of meanings within a literary text

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
- Students required to maintain at least a 3.7 overall GPA.
Language Requirments:
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
- Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
