The agricultural science major is unique from those offered by other schools in that it combines several specialized fields of expertise. The agricultural science major is a bachelor of science degree with emphasis on western rangeland livestock operations. The goal of the agricultural science major is to educate students who can compete successfully for agricultural-related jobs in Nevada, the Western United States, and throughout the world. The agricultural science major emphasizes the protection of sustainable natural resources, proper use of livestock and the effective management and economic improvement of rangeland resources. It covers a broad spectrum of university courses centering on the concept of "multiple-use" resource management.

This major provides students with current professional training in the management agricultural systems found within Nevada. It also provides a strong foundation for a career in land use management.
